LGBT FOUNDATION TO CELEBRATE 25TH ANNIVERSARY

ON SATURDAY, APRIL 27 PFUND WILL celebrate its 25th anniversary with an original commissioned creative piece written by Michael Elyanow of The Playwright Center, produced by Scott Mayer of MAYER, directed by Faye Price of Pillsbury House Theatre and showcasing Erin Schwab as the mistress of ceremonies. Actors in the production include, T. Mychael Rambo, Dane Stauffer and Beth Gilleland.

While the celebration intends to generate community it will also generate giving to the organization. Funds raised will support LGBT community grants and scholarships moving into the organization’s next 25 years.

“As we celebrate 25 years, we are proud that PFund has always taken the long view, looking at where the urgencies of today exist within the broader context of history. From our communities’ response to the AIDs epidemic, to our work supporting anti-bullying and marriage policy change, to supporting arts organizations, and our work on racial and gender equity, PFund is proud to be in partnership with a diverse range of leaders who are committed to making positive change,” reflects Susan Raffo, executive director.

The event, sponsored by General Mills, Target, UnitedHealth Group, ROR Tax Professionals and Dorsey & Whitney, will take place at The Cowles Center for Dance and Performing Arts with an after party hosted at the Graves 601 Hotel.

“PFund’s 25th Anniversary Celebration is an excellent opportunity to share all of the foundation’s accomplishments over the past decades,” reflects Lindsay Kruh, Board Chair. “The future is bright, as PFund refocuses its attention on advancing our regional presence, assuring all constituents in the five state area are able to live freely and openly in welcoming and supportive communities.”

Ticket prices for the anniversary fundraiser are $250 for VIP, $150 for general admission, and $25 for after party. To purchase tickets or for more information, visit www.PFundOnline.org/25thAnniversary.html

PFund Foundation advances social justice for LGBT communities in the Upper Midwest. PFund develops leaders, provides funding toward systemic change, inspires giving, convenes community dialogue and reports to the wider public on important issues from our communities. Four friends living in Minneapolis established the community foundation Philanthrofund (now known as PFund) in 1987 with $2,000 as a response to the AIDS crisis. 25 years later, PFund manages nearly $1 million in assets and is supported by thousands of vibrant individuals whose gifts create this vital community foundation. PFund is one of only a handful of foundations in the nation created specifically by and for LGBT communities. PFund envisions and works toward a time when LGBT people are safe and celebrated; living free from discrimination, violence, invisibility and isolation.

Helping families whose child was Lost To Violence

April 18-21, 2013

Did you know?

  • More children and teens die from guns every three days than have died in the Newtown massacre.
  • 9,595 people were killed in gun violence in 2010. That’s a combined loss of 400,000 years of life to gun violence.
  • The number of children killed by guns in 2010 was more than the number of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty that same year.
  • Between 1979 and 2010, 119,079 children and teens died from guns. That’s more than all of the U.S. soldiers killed in action in the Vietnam, Korean, Afghanistan and Iraq wars combined.
