Gertrude Green departed for her heavenly home on December 4, 2014, at the age of 99. She was loving, compassionate and faithful to her church and family.
Gertrude is survived by her daughter, Gladys Randle; son, Larry R. Smith (Bonnie Wilson); grandchildren, Cheryl Jones, Roniel Green, Kelley Green, Kim Green, Sherri Green, Robbin Green, Chanda Smith Baker (Roland Baker), Shannon Smith Jones; 18 great-grandchildren, 16 great-great-grandchildren; cousin, Willie Mae Johnson; and a host of relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by parents, Lee and Ada Howelton; husband, James Green; brothers, Alverga Howelton, Robert Howelton, Otha Howelton; sister, Idella Grigsby; children, Richard R. Green (former chancellor of New York Public Schools) and Robert L. Green; grandson, Craig Green; and granddaughter, Dawn Green.
Memorial Services will be held at Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, 3355 4th St. N., Mpls, MN on Friday, December 12, 2014. Visitation at 11 am and services begin at 12 pm.
