It was quite the weekend in prep football. Here are 10 outstanding performances turned in by some of the metro area’s top players.
TERRENCE HICKS (Minneapolis Roosevelt) — The QB ran for a touchdown, passed for another, and added three two-point conversions in a 36-2 victory over St. Paul Humboldt.
FELIX TAYLOR, JR. (St. Paul Central) — The QB threw two touchdown passes and ran for another, leading the Minutemen in a 32-19 victory over Columbia Heights.
ISAIAH BROWER (St. Paul Highland Park) — Rushed for 130 yards and two touchdowns and totaled 42 receiving yards in a 25-0 victory over St. Paul Harding.
GARRETT GARDNER (St. Paul Central) — Scored twice in helping lead Central against Columbia Heights.
ALAON MITCHELL (Minneapolis South) — Caught touchdown passes of 85 and 27 yards to lead South to a 34-27 victory over Minneapolis Henry.
TYLER JOHNSON (Minneapolis North) — The QB passed for 269 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for 115 and three more in a 48-29 victory over Minneapolis Southwest.
JEFF JONES (Minneapolis Washburn) — The state’s top prospect caught two touchdown passes and ran for three in a 38-0 win over Minneapolis Edison. He rushed for 191 yards.
JASHON CORNELL (Cretin-Derham Hall) — The nation’s top junior prospect as a defensive back turned in a dominant defensive performance in a 56-0 victory over Hastings.
JAKOBI JACKSON (St. Paul Central) — The junior RB had a 59-yard touchdown run in a victory over Columbia Heights.
JAWON NORTON (Minneapolis Henry) — Scored two touchdowns in a loss to Minneapolis South.
