It should be quite the state tournament this weekend. Two teams are hoping for a three-peat. Two city conference teams made it to the tournament, and a host of Division I signees will be participating.
In Class 4A, Hopkins hopes to make it a three-peat, led by McDonald All-American and Northwestern University signee NIA COFFEY, track phenom TAYLOR ANDERSON, and ERIN O’TOOLE, NIA HOLLIE, RACHEL ORBUCH and MIKAALA SHACKELFORD.
Georgetown signee JADE MARTIN, juniors KANISHA BELL and TONIA WADE, freshman KIARA RUSSELL, and eighth-grader JASMYN MARTIN have Bloomington Kennedy back in their first tournament in seven years.
JANAY MORTON and PHILLIS WEBB, both headed to Eastern Michigan, have led Osseo back to its second consecutive appearance along with AYA PORTE, MADI MALONE and BELINDA BARTKNECHT. St. Paul Central, making its first appearance since winning back-to-back titles in 2007 and 2008, are led by University of Alabama-Birmingham signee SADE CHATMAN, along with BETSY MACDONALD, JADA JONES, RAYNA SHAROW and LYRIC WILLIAMS.
In Class 3A, Iowa State University signee TYSEANNA JOHNSON and ALLINA STARR (headed to Auburn) have DeLaSalle on the threshold of a three-peat with significant contributions coming from PATIENCE GRIFFIN, JOI JONES and NATALIE EULL.
Richfield made it back to the tournament led by DePaul signee JESSICA JANUARY, along with SIERRA FORD-WASHINGTON, KYLA ADAMS, KAILY ADAMS, BOBBI BIEVER and MAKINSEY SCHRAMM.
In Class 2A, Minneapolis Washburn made it to the tournament behind the outstanding play of CHASE COLEY, AUDREY DEVAUGN, LUCIA RENKOFF, NATALIE HOLDDAHL and MEGAN LUCAS.
