We should have known better than to think that the United States team could wrestle the prized Ryder Cup away from the hungry Europeans. There are losses and there are collapses; what happened at Medina Country Club over the weekend, especially on Sunday, was a collapse.
The United States team, led by Tiger Woods, the world’s number-two player, failed on American soil. Europe used the spirit and motivation of the late great Seve Ballesteros to rally on Sunday and retain the Cup. European Captain Jose Maria Olazabal was real close to Ballesteros.
