Alma J. Davis McGlothin was born November 25, 1930 in Minneapolis, MN to Gertrude Cowan and Mac Foster. Alma attended high school at Central High School. She worked many years for the Minnesota Department of Health, and recently retired from her position as business administration assistant with the Minneapolis Convention Center.

 
She was a devoted member of Mother St. James A.M.E. Church. She was a secretary and a recipient of many awards and appreciation citations. Alma was Grand Matron in the Order of the Eastern Star, and a proud dancer for the Sabathani Steppers dance troupe.

 
Alma McGlothin is preceded in death by her parents, her sons Richard and Russell Grant, and beloved daughter in-law Kathy. Alma is survived by her husband Deacon Jewel McGlothin; sisters Bobbi Kennedy, Rayeann (James) Bryan, and Mary Williams; sons and daughters Terry Ringold (Laura), Deb, Diane, Vonnie, Frank, Felicia, Michael, Melvin Davis, and Nancy; grandchildren George (Marquita) and Michael (Jocelyn) Grant; and a host of nieces and nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren and extended family. She will be missed by many, many friends.

 
Services were held Tuesday, March 20 at St. Peter’s A.M.E. Church, 401 E 41st Street, Minneapolis. Interment at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Fairview Hospice Services.
